The Arts at Pembroke Hill

Arts

The visual and performing arts departments at the Pembroke Hill School endeavor to broaden and deepen the intellectual and creative development of each student, recognizing that the study of the arts opens a world of self-expression and analytical thought.

The arts program, designed to balance the creative process and the final product, incorporates high-quality instruction in each art discipline and an integrated approach to other academic areas. The arts curriculum at Pembroke Hill School offers each student a visual, aural and analytical language, as well as a context for interpreting historical perspectives and constructing meanings.

The Pembroke Hill School arts program mission is to inspire each student to explore the world through the visual and performing arts, thus simulating creativity, appreciation and learning, developing perceptual and conceptual skills and fostering interest in lifelong support of the arts. Strongly rooted in arts education, one of Pembroke Hill’s mission statements is to develop the creative abilities of the students by offering them extensive opportunities to display their artistic talents.

The Parents Association Arts Council was formed to encourage and enhance that vision at PHS. The Arts Council supports arts education through grants, events, workshops, purchase of equipment and publicity with the annual Performing Arts Playbill.

The arts facilities at Pembroke Hill also attest to this strong investment in the arts education.

PHS middle/upper school students earn more than 100 awards in the Scholastic Art Competition.
