The Pembroke Hill Lower School Athletic Program is committed to offering a variety of recreational athletic activities to students from prekindergarten through fifth grade. Coached by parent volunteers, the goal of each activity is to focus on skill development, teamwork, and physical fitness in a supportive and positive environment.
The school values of Respect, Compassion, Integrity and Scholarship are an important aspect of the athletic program. The role of the coaches, parents and participants is to reflect and instill such values in a manner that emphasizes good sportsmanship. Every student is a valuable member of his or her team, therefore, equal playing time is given to all participants.
No. One principle objective of the Lower School Athletic Program is to give every child who wants to participate the opportunity to do so, promoting participation in recreational sports with an emphasis on skill development. Many PHS students are involved in premier or select sports teams, but those teams are independent of the school.
We rely on parent coaches and encourage volunteerism. Athletic teams should welcome all students and guarantee equal playing time to all team members. There are to be no try-outs, and coaching should be positive in nature and be appropriate to recreational sports activities.
If you have a concern about a coach, talk to that person directly. If your concern is not addressed, please feel free to contact Paula Engetschwiler.
The registration fee for Brookside soccer, basketball, flag football and baseball will vary, and will be paid directly to the league at the time of registration. There is a $30 registration fee for the Field Hockey Clinic, and $130 registration fee for Challenger soccer. These fees will be placed on your PHS business office
