Postseason Update

Our spring sports teams are in the midst of the postseason. Here is a postseason roundup that will be updated as we receive results.

Track and Field: The boys and girls track and field teams will send two runners to the state meet Friday and Saturday, May 26-27, in Jefferson City. Junior Julia Rosher placed fourth in both the 800-meter and 1600-meter races at sectionals in Clinton, Mo., qualifying for state. Sophomore Daniela Rodriguez-Chavez also placed fourth in the 3200-meter race, qualifying for state.

Girls Soccer: The varsity girls soccer team defeated Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, 9-1, in the sectional round on Saturday, May 20. They will play in the quarterfinals Wednesday, May 24, at 5 p.m., versus St. Pius X at home.

Baseball: The varsity baseball team lost a close game Pleasant Hill, 6-5, in sectionals Tuesday, May 23. Congratulations on a great season, Raiders!

Boys Tennis: The varsity boys tennis team qualified for state Thursday, May 18. The team defeated Marshall, 5-0, and Trenton, 5-0, in team sectionals in Trenton, Mo. Additionally, the team will send five players to the state individual tournament. The state tournament will be held in Springfield, May 25-27. Singles player senior Josh Bortnick and the doubles teams of sophomore Nathan Turtledove/junior Garrett Kincaid and junior Matthew Gernon/senior Thomas Thornton advanced to state by winning their sectional matchups Monday, May 15.

Boys Lacrosse: The varsity boys lacrosse team lost in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City semifinals to Shawnee Mission East, 12-9, Wednesday, May 17.

Boys Golf: The boys golf team took fifth place at the state championship, shooting a total score of 646. Freshman August Hoffman was the top Raider golfer, tying for 20th place with a 155.
