A new crosswalk on 51st Street near the Wornall campus will be ready for the first day of school on Monday, Aug. 21!

Specifically, the crosswalk is located on 51st Street immediately west of the entrance to the campus. This installation will make crossing the street from Loose Park much safer for the school community, especially early childhood families.

This project has been in the planning for some time, said James Miller, Pembroke Hill chief financial officer. "We are grateful to our facilities department as well as the Parks and Recreation Board and the City of Kansas City for all of their assistance in bringing this project to completion."

Pedestrians using the crosswalk will press buttons on poles that have been installed on either side of the street to activate flashing yellow lights that will remind drivers to stop at the crossing.

This project was funded by Pembroke Hill.
