Arts Facilities
Ward Parkway Campus
Arts Center
As the 2008-09 school year opened at Pembroke Hill on Aug. 19, so did
the new Arts Center on the Ward Parkway campus. The impressive
28,000-square-foot structure earned rave reviews from both faculty
members and students.
The architects, Peter Gisolfi Associates,
designed the building to be a loft-like building that might be found in
the Crossroads Arts District of Kansas City. The interior features
many open spaces, hard surfaces and large windows to provide natural
light. Views from the Arts Centers’ windows are nothing less than
breathtaking.
The beautiful two-story entry includes plenty of
space for the display of artwork, and a 225-seat theater will provide an intimate venue for productions. The structure
is connected by a second floor skyway to Jordan Hall, and its facade
features the same brick as other buildings on the Ward Parkway campus.
The
classrooms were designed specifically for the needs of particular
disciplines within the arts. There is a dance studio where a newly
offered dance class meets and a special area for vocal and instrumental
music. The hallway in the music area is lined with lockers for
convenient instrument storage. The Electronics Imagery class gathers
in a room with computer stations outfitted for this purpose. A
darkroom is also included for students who are studying photography.
Hall Student Center Theatre/Boocock Gallery
This building on the Ward Parkway campus features a 700-seat theater. Middle and upper school students use this facility for performances, assemblies and special presentations. Boocock Gallery is used to display student artwork. The facility also provides space for performing arts classrooms.
Wornall Campus

This
300-seat auditorium on the Wornall campus is used by students for music
programs, assemblies and drama performances primarily for students
early childhood and lower schools. Students on the Ward Parkway campus
also use this theatre for drama productions. The gallery displays art
from students in all divisions, as well as professional artists'
work.Music Classrooms
