Coaching Staff

Head Coach: Sam Knopik

Sam Knopik is in his 15th season as head football coach. Sam also serves as a world history teacher at PHS and as assistant athletic director. He has compiled a 80-65 record in 14 seasons, taking his teams to the playoffs five times. He has been named the Greater Kansas City Coaches Associations Man of the Year (2013); The Kansas City Chiefs Missouri High School Coach of the Year (2011) and awarded the Marine Corps Semper Fi Award (2013).

Sam is a native of Omaha, Neb., and received his undergraduate degree from William Jewell College in 1996 and his master’s degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1997. Sam spent the 1998-99 year teaching at the Kyiv International School in Ukraine where he taught fourth grade and took teams to Prague and Cairo for various tournaments.

He returned to Missouri where he taught and coached in Moberly, Mo. before returning to Kansas City in 2001.

Sam serves as an ex-officio member on the American Football Coaching Association (AFCA) Board of Trustees, and is chairman of the High School Program Committee. He's also served on the Missouri Football Coaching Association Board of Directors since 2005, and the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Board since 2008.
