Eighth graders in Alli Jordan and Caleb Westbrook's English classes created collages inspired by the book Piecing Me Together. The protagonist, Jade, feels at conflict with her identity until she gains the power to use her voice and show the world her art through collages. The book asks questions about race, friendships and the labels we give ourselves and each other. 

The teachers' new English class centers around issues of identity, diversity, inclusion and equity.
