Freshman Adella Castaner Wins Missouri Class 1 Girls Tennis Singles Title; Team Places Third

Congratulations to freshman Adella Castaner on winning the Missouri State Class 1 Girls Tennis singles title.

Congratulations to freshman Adella Castaner on winning the Missouri State Class 1 Girls Tennis singles title on Saturday, Oct. 20, in Springfield. Adella had to battle through two very tough John Burroughs opponents on her way to the victory, defeating John Burroughs freshman Emily Kantrovitz in the final, 6-2, 6-2. Adella did not lose a set on her way to the state championship. 

The team also fared extremely well in the team tournament, bringing home third place by defeating Springfield Catholic, 5-1. Additionally, the doubles team of sisters Jean Li (sophomore) and Lynne Li (junior) took home third place in the doubles state championship, and sophomore Randi Hendricks secured sixth place in the individual singles competition.
