The PHS speech and debate team had a phenomenal day at the NSDA Congress National Qualifier Saturday, April 14. Not only was the team amazing hosts, but it also won the Congress District Sweepstakes award, the first time in school history! Additionally, senior Jillian Jetmore was named district student of the year, a first for PHS. Junior Mulan Jiang was crowned district champion and became a national qualifier. Senior Janna Withrow also qualified for nationals by taking fourth place in the competition. So far, PHS has qualified seven students to nationals, with the potential to qualify more (See below for a list of national qualifiers). Furthermore, the team has won 19 total sweepstakes awards this year, which is more than PHS has won, combined, in its 30-year history. Great job, Raiders!
