Seven upper school speech and debate students competed in eight events at the Missouri state speech, debate and theatre championships Friday and Saturday, April 11-13,  at Missouri State University. For the first time ever, MSHSAA gave out sweepstakes awards, and PHS took third place in the debate category with only two entries.

Senior Pallavi Jonnalagadda became the state champion in United States Extemporaneous Speaking. Seniors Jancyn Appel and Shirom Makkad took second place in Public Forum Debate, and seniors Lily and Mulan Jiang tied for fourth place in Policy Debate.

Also competing in the tournament were juniors Kat Brown (Oratory) and Meghan Sabharwal (Poetry). Great job, Raiders!
