Here is your Weekend Raider Update for April 30, 2018:

Boys Lacrosse
The varsity boys lacrosse team is the only undefeated team still left in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City league, after defeating Blue Valley in a back and forth battle of unbeaten teams, 16-13. It is the final week of the season, as the team plays three games this week:

  • Monday, April 30, at Shawnee Mission
  • Wednesday, May 2, at archrival Shawnee Mission East
  • Friday, May 4, at home versus Blue Valley West (Senior Night)

Senior Night festivities will be held prior to the varsity contest, which starts at 7 p.m.

The varsity baseball team won the Russellville baseball tournament over the weekend. The team defeated Wellsville, 12-2, on Friday, April 27, then turned around Saturday, April 28, and defeated host Russellville in the semifinals, 11-5, and upended Osage in a close final, 11-10. The team plays St. Pius X Tuesday, May 1, at home, then travels to Frontenac on Saturday, May 5.

Girls Soccer
The varsity girls soccer team also came home with a trophy this weekend, as the team captured the Camdenton tournament Friday and Saturday, April 27-28. The team dropped Boonville, 2-0, in the opening game April 27, then took down Father Tolton, 2-0, in the semifinals and Carl Junction in the final, 4-0. The team plays at Platte County on Thursday, May 3.

Girls Lacrosse
The varsity girls lacrosse lost a tough contest on Senior Night Thursday, April 26, to St. James Academy, 11-10. Congratulations to our four senior athletes! The team plays three games this week:

  • Monday, April 30, at home versus Lee's Summit
  • Wednesday, May 2, against Blue Valley at Blue Valley Northwest High School
  • Saturday, May 5, against St. Thomas Aquinas at St. Teresa's Academy

Boys Tennis
The varsity boys tennis team traveled to Columbia Friday, April 27to play defending Class 2 champions, Columbia Rock Bridge. The Raiders lost 9-0 to the Bruins, then played cross state rival John Burroughs and Jenks (Okla.) High School in the North Central Missouri Duals on Saturday, April 28. The team lost to Burroughs, 9-0, and toppled Jenks, 6-3. The team plays three home matches this week:

  • Monday, April 30, versus Lee's Summit North
  • Tuesday, May 1, versus rival Rockhurst
  • Thursday, May 3, versus Lee's Summit West (Senior Night)

Senior Night celebrations will begin after the varsity match, which begins at 4 p.m.

Track and Field
The varsity track and field team competed Friday, April 27, at Holden High School. The girls team placed eighth in the competition, and the boys team took 11th place. Freshman Hadley Jetmore had an impressive meet, taking first in the pole vault, 200 meter and 400 meter races. Senior Emma Knopik set a season best in the 3200 meter race, 13 minutes 27 seconds, and placed fourth in the competition. Additionally, junior Shahim Shahzad ran a season best, 11.74 seconds, in the 100 meters, taking fourth place in the race. Senior Yakini Kasimu also set a season record in the 100 meters, securing ninth place. Senior Oscar Snell placed fourth in the 300 meter hurdles, also setting a personal best of 46.69 seconds. The team competes at the Piper Relays Wednesday, May 2.

Boys Golf
The varsity boys golf team play in Class 3, District 7 championships Monday, April 30, at Mules National Golf Course in Warrensburg. Senior Night for boys golf seniors will be held at halftime of the varsity boys lacrosse game Friday, May 4. The game begins at 7 p.m.
