Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity boys swimming and diving team took fifth place at the Interscholastic League Championships Oct. 25-26, at Central Academy of Excellence. The 200-yard freestyle relay of sophomore Jared Cambier, sophomore Thomas Dickinson, freshman Nicholas Trainor and freshman Joey Zhang took fourth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Nicholas also took fifth place in the 100-yard freestyle race. The 200 free relay team, consisting of Jared, Nicholas, freshman Red Perrin and sophomore Will Grant qualified for state, as well as Nicholas in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle races. Thomas and Joey will be going to state as alternates for the relay team.
This year, the Missouri State High School Activities Association separated swimming into two classes. PHS will swim in the Missouri State Class 1 Championships Thursday and Friday, Nov. 2 and 3, at City of St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.
The varsity girls cross country team took 2nd place at districts Saturday, Oct. 28, in Warrensburg, Mo. The girls team, by placing second, qualified for the state meet Saturday, Nov. 4, at Oak Hills Golf Center at Hough Park in Jefferson City, Mo. Senior Julia Rosher (6th), freshman Hadley Jetmore (7th) and junior Daniela Rodriguez-Chavez (8th) received All-District honors.
The boys varsity team placed fourth in the competition. Junior Coleman Gliddon (11th), senior Emlen Brown (12th) and senior Thomas Way (14th) received All-District honors.
The varsity football team lost in the second round of districts 60-7 to host Chillicothe Friday, Oct. 27. The football team ends the season with an 8-3 record. Congratulations on a terrific season, Raiders.
The PHS field hockey team traveled to Tulsa, Okla., Friday and Saturday, Oct. 27 and 28, to play Casady and Holland Hall. The varsity team went 2-0 on the trip, defeating Holland Hall 7-0 Friday, and Casady 1-0 Saturday. The JV team went 1-1 on the trip, upending Holland Hall 2-1, then losing to Casady 4-0 on Saturday. During the trip, junior Carrie Hughes set a new school record of most goals scored in a season by an individual player with 17 goals. Her final goal broke the previous record of 16 set in 2006 by Lilly Jianas '07. Carrie scored a hat trick (three goals) in the varsity victory over Holland Hall. Carrie is also tied with 2013 graduate Audrey Newell's career point total (69) set in 2012.
