Pembroke Hill welcomes Melissa Wise as director of communications and marketing effective July 1, 2023. Melissa comes to Pembroke Hill from the University of Arkansas Grantham where she has served as creative director since 2018. She replaces Beth Bryant who announced her retirement earlier this year.

“I am excited for Melissa to join our school and lead our communications and marketing function,” said head of school Brad Shelley. “Her extensive experiences in higher education, coupled with her expertise in marketing, brand identity and management, make her an ideal fit for our school. I am looking forward to collaborating with Melissa to further enhance our marketing and communications programs.”

Melissa has impressive experience in heading teams in a variety of educational settings. In her current position, she oversees branding, communications, content strategy, social media and creative strategy for marketing campaigns. She also leads market research projects and provides creative direction for assets such as videos, commercials, email nurturing campaigns and motion graphics. Most recently, Melissa took on the role of leading a website redesign project while simultaneously launching a new visual identity and brand positioning. This strategic endeavor has yielded significant positive outcomes for the organization.

Prior to this role, Melissa was director of marketing and communications for the University of Colorado Boulder College of Engineering and the University of Denver Colorado Women’s College. While associated with the University of Denver, Melissa was a member of the Brand Guidelines and Visual Identity Steering Committee. She has also served as manager of publications and graphic design for Indiana University South Bend.

"I am absolutely thrilled to be joining the vibrant and dynamic community at Pembroke Hill School,” Melissa recently shared. “It is an incredible honor and opportunity to be a part of an institution that is so committed to shaping the lives of young people through world-class education. I cannot wait to bring my passion for storytelling and my marketing expertise to this role while working alongside the talented Pembroke Hill team to share the amazing stories of this exceptional school."

An Indiana native, Melissa attended Indiana University where she earned three degrees - bachelor of arts degrees in art history and graphic design and a master’s degree in public affairs. She has received several awards for her work including the American Graphic Design Award, Appleton Coated Award and the RIS Diamond Award.

“I am excited for Melissa to become a member of our administrative team,” Brad said. “I know that you join me in welcoming Melissa and her husband Tim to the Pembroke Hill family.”
