Pierson Gym Demolition
Andrew Mouzin

Demolition of Pierson Gym began last week as part of the Building Together project. Nearly 60 years worth of memories have been made in the gymnasium, including All-School BBQs, the since-retired Clothesline Sale and the kickoff for the Building Together project. It’s where scores of PHS student-athletes trained in the weight room; middle schoolers learned about the importance of exercise through P.E. classes; and competitive racquetball games were held.

The John T. Pierson Sports Building (Pierson Gym) was dedicated on Dec. 17, 1961 through a generous gift by Mr. and Mrs. John T. Pierson.

Pierson Gym will live on in the new Bellis Athletic Center, as the wooden "PH" from the gym floor is being refurbished and will be placed in the BAC. Pierson Gym may be gone, but it will never be forgotten.
