We are coming to the end of the spring sports postseason. Good luck this week to our boys lacrosse, boys tennis and track and field teams as they compete in their respective championships.

BOYS TENNIS
Five members of the varsity boys tennis team competed in the Class 3 state individual championships Thursday and Friday, May 19-20, in Springfield, Mo.

Trey Lambright took second place in the singles competition. The doubles teams of Konsta Laitio/Topher Thornberry and Buzz Stevens/Armaan Yarlagadda played each other for third place, with Laitio/Thornberry prevailing. The team will return to Springfield next Saturday, May 28, to play in the team state championships. Good luck, Raiders!

TRACK AND FIELD
Members of the varsity track and field team competed in sectionals on Saturday, May 21.

The top four advanced to the Class 3 state championships May 27-28:

  • Boys 4x100 relay (Darin Conley, Devin Conley, Quinton Conley, Aidan Lacy) - first place
  • Boys 4x200 relay (Darin Conley, Devin Conley, Christian Jarrett, Aidan Lacy) - first place
  • Darin Conley (triple jump) - second place
  • Sophie van Zanten (long jump) - third place
  • Devin Conley (100m) - fourth place
  • Girls 4x100 relay (Caroline Kroh, Blythe Shelley, Sophie van Zanten, Elsa Wright) - fifth place (missed advancing to state by .004 seconds!)
  • Quinton Conley (javelin) - sixth place
  • Darin Conley (shot put) - sixth place
  • Erin William (1600m) - seventh place

BOYS LACROSSE
The varsity boys lacrosse team defeated Olathe LC in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City (LAKC) quarterfinals, 9-1, on Wednesday, May 18. The team will play rival Rockhurst on Wednesday, May 25, at approximately 8:15 p.m., at UMKC's Durwood Stadium.

Admission costs $5 cash for all persons entering the stadium.

Postseason Updated Results

BOYS GOLF
Sophomore Fritz Volini advanced to the two-day Class 5 boys golf state championships Monday and Tuesday, May 16-17, in Cape Girardeau. Fritz finished in 76th place shooting a combined 176.

GIRLS SOCCER
The varsity girls soccer team progressed to the Class 3, District 7 semifinals on Tuesday, May 17. The team put up a valiant effort, but dropped its match, 3-1, to Smith-Cotton.

BASEBALL
The varsity baseball team took on Neosho in its Class 5 District 7 quarterfinal game Saturday, May 14. The team battled hard, but was defeated, 9-7.
