Spring Sports Postseason Update: May 29, 2022

BOYS TENNIS
The varsity boys tennis team won the Class 3 state championship yesterday, May 28, at the Cooper Tennis Complex in Springfield, Mo. The team battled  Marquette in a grueling matchup, with it coming down to the final two matches of the day. Sophomore Andy Greaves pulled out a three-set victory to win the deciding match. 

Earlier in the day, the team defeated Lindbergh, 5-0, in the state semifinals.

TRACK AND FIELD
Members of the varsity track and field team competed in the Class 3 state championships Friday and Saturday, May 27-28, at Jefferson City High School's Adkins Stadium. 

Three school records were set at the meet, and every member made the podium and received All-State honors.

Day 1: Friday, May 27

  • Darin Conley - 7th place (triple jump)
  • Sophie van Zanten - fifth place (long jump-school record 17’4 ¼ “)


Day 2: Friday, May 28

  • Devin Conley - 7th place (100m)
  • 4x200m relay - 4th place (school record 1:20.39 set in the prelims on Day 1)
  • 4x100m relay - 4th place (school record 43.30)

BOYS LACROSSE
The varsity boys lacrosse team played a tight semifinal contest against Rockhurst in the Lacrosse Association of Kansas City's city tournament Wednesday, May 25, at UMKC's Durwood Stadium.

It was a back and forth contest for most of the night. The Raiders pulled to within one goal with less than 4 seconds left, but ultimately lost to Rockhurst, 10-9.
