Upper, Middle School Art Students Garner Regional Scholastic Art Awards
Andrew Mouzin

The middle and upper school art students have done an incredible job this year, and their art has recently been recognized with regional Scholastic art awards.

Thirty-one upper school students received 46 awards in the competition, including 10 gold keys. Senior Mariel Pepitone's gold key-winning digital art piece,  American Life: Spic and Span, was nominated for the American Visions award. Upper school visual arts chair Connie Creek said the school has had only a couple of pieces nominated for the American Visions award in the last 15 years.

Additionally, nine middle school students received 11 awards in the regional competition, including three gold keys.

Gold key pieces will move on to the national competition. National award winners will be announced in March.
