Upper School Environmental Science Class Completes Soil Experiment
Andrew Mouzin

Upper school environmental science students in Dr. Marjorie MacGregor's class recently completed a 60-day experiment, where they planted cotton underwear around Kansas City to determine the soil's activity level. The activity level was determined by looking at the decomposition of the undergarments. The "Soil Your Undies" challenge was inspired by a program started in 2018 by 100 Oregon farmers, ranchers and other agricultural enthusiasts working with their local Soil and Water Conservation Districts (SWCDs) as a fun way to build public interest in soil health. Very creative!
