Congratulations to our upper school speech and debate squad, which begins the season ranked 15th in the nation and the top ranked school in the KC metropolitan area!

Upper school speech and debate coach Justin Smith said, "The ranking is a reflection of the collective work of nearly 100 students and our entire coaching staff. These students are some of the most hard-working kids at the most hard-working school I've ever encountered. I'm enormously proud of them and what they've accomplished."

Last year's team was the overall Show Me District champions, securing both the speech and debate sweepstakes. The group sent 17 qualifiers to the National Speech and Debate Association Tournament, the most in school history.

The squad begins its season Oct. 7-8, at the Blue Springs (JV and Varsity) and Blue Springs South (Novice) tournaments.
