The varsity girls basketball team played an overtime thriller for the district championship. The varsity boys basketball team will look to capture its third straight district title. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for March 6, 2023.

Girls Basketball
The varsity girls basketball team played an overtime thriller for the Class 4 District 14 championship Saturday, March 4, at St. Michael the Archangel. The #2-seeded Raiders battled the top-seeded St. Michael Guardians throughout the game, ultimately falling, 79-75, and taking second place. 

Four players scored in double figures, led by Kenedy Nutter's 27 points. Ava Rasmus grabbed nine rebounds and had six assists in the game.

To get to the championship game, the Raiders defeated Odessa, 73-28, in the district semifinals.

Boys Basketball
The top-seeded varsity boys basketball team will play in the Class 5 District 8 championship game tonight, March 6, against Smithville at Platte County High School. The game begins at 6 p.m. Platte County is selling digital tickets only (for those 6 years old and older) through MSHSAA. Tickets are $6 plus a service fee. The game will also be live streamed through MSHSAA TV for a fee.

The team won its district semifinal game Friday, March 3, against a tough Van Horn squad, 49-36. Devin Conley led the Raiders in scoring with 25 points. Darin Conley added another double-double, 10 points and 11 rebounds, in the victory. The team also defeated East (KC) High School in its quarterfinal matchup, 77-42.

Winter Sports Awards Program
Winter sports student athletes will be celebrated at the annual winter sports awards program next Wednesday, March 8, at 7 p.m., in Hall Student Center Auditorium.
