Weekend Raider Update: Nov. 7, 2022

Two boys cross country runners competed at the Class 2 Cross Country State Championships in Columbia, Mo. The varsity football team continued its playoff run with a big victory. The varsity boys swimming and diving team qualified its most swimmers ever to the Class 1 state meet. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Nov. 7, 2022.

Cross Country
Varsity boys cross country runners Henry Pickert and David Bell competed in the Class 2 Cross Country State Championships Saturday, Nov. 5, in Columbia, Mo. Henry placed 95th place (18:19.00), and David finished in 107th place (18:33.10).

Football
The varsity football team battled the elements and avenged its early season loss to St. Michael the Archangel by defeating the Guardians, 26-0, in the district semifinals. The team will travel to Holden to take on the Eagles for the district championship on Friday, Nov. 11.

Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity boys swimming and diving team qualified its most swimmers ever to the Class 1 state meet Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12, at the St. Peters Rec-Plex in St. Peters, Mo.

    • Relay qualifiers - Joe Bortnick, Nicholas Frank, Sean Hong, Johnny Honnold, Andrew Kim, Brooks Rixson, Tyler Sproull, Marat Usov

  • 200-yard IM - Marat Usov
  • 50-yard free - Joe Bortnick, Andrew Kim, Tyler Sproull
  • 100-yard butterfly - Nicholas Frank, Tyler Sproull, Marat Usov
  • 100-yard backstroke - Nicholas Frank

Additionally, Zach Berg won the Class 1 District 3 diving championship Saturday, Nov. 5, with an 11-dive score of 377.70.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team played tough against a very good East (KC) squad in the Class 3 District 8 championship Thursday, Nov. 3. The boys scrapped all night, but ended up losing 4-1.

Volleyball
Volleyball player Sydney Draper is up for Metro Sports KC Setter of the Year. Voting is open now until Saturday at 3 p.m., and the winners will be announced at the All-Star game Saturday, at 4 p.m., at North Kansas City High School.
