The varsity girls golf team won sectionals on Monday. The varsity girls tennis team won districts; one singles player and two doubles teams advanced to state. The sixth grade red volleyball team won the MPSL volleyball tournament. These results highlight the Weekend Raider Update for Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2019.

Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf team won the Class 1 Sectional 4 tournament Monday, Oct. 14, at St. Joseph Country Club. The team led all schools with a score of 421, 21 strokes ahead of the next team. Freshman Ava Rasmus was the top individual finisher, tying for fifth place with a 101. The team moves on to the Missouri Class 1 state championship Oct. 21-22, at Fremont Hill Country Club in Nixa, Mo. 

Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team won the Class 1, District. 14 title over St. Pius X, 5-0, on Wednesday, Oct. 9. Individual singles district champion junior Alisha Castaner, and doubles district champions seniors Lynne Li and Lucia Wolfe, and runner ups freshman Marlena Smith/senior Anna Stechschulte also moved on to sectionals. The girls played in individual sectionals on Monday, Oct. 14, winning their respective matches (Castaner 6-0, 6-1; Li/Wolfe 6-0, 6-0; and Smith/Stechschulte 6-0, 6-3). The varsity squad plays Maryville and the winner of Marshall/Chillicothe Saturday, Oct. 19, at Owen Tennis Complex.

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team secured fourth place at the Benton tournament Saturday, Oct. 12, in St. Joseph. The girls won three out of their first four matches, defeating Lincoln Prep (25-12, 25-14), splitting with Cameron (21-25, 25-14), and defeating Bishop Leblond (25-22, 25-20) and Bedford, Iowa (25-12, 25-18). The team lost its final two matches, getting upended by Maryville (14-25, 25-21, 20-25) and Chillicothe( 22-25, 25-16, 22-25) . The team plays Lincoln College Preparatory Academy on Senior Night tonight, Tuesday, Oct. 15. Nine seniors will be recognized for their contributions to the team: Ellie Copaken, Anna Garren, Avery Giles, Cat Leal, Audrey Lu, Haley Miller, Caroline O'Shaughnessy, Mya van Zanten, Ira Vats 

Football
The varsity football team improved its record to 6-1 on the season, defeating Central Academy of Excellence, 42-22, on Friday, Oct. 11. The team plays Friday, Oct. 18, at Summit Christian Academy.

Boys Swimming
The varsity boys swimming team took fourth place at the Platte County Invitational, securing 213 points. The team placed four swimmers in the top 12 in the 50-yard freestyle: senior Will Grant-second place; junior Nick Trainor-fifth place; junior Spencer Perrin-sixth place; and sophomore Jack Embry-12th place. The 400-yard freestyle relay team (Will, Jack, Spencer and Nick) also set a new school record. The team competes Tuesday, Oct. 15, at the Red Bridge YMCA.

Cross Country
The varsity cross country competed at the Mill Valley Cat Classic on Thursday, Oct. 10, at Shawnee Mission Park. The girls team took fourth place and the boys team took sixth place at the meet. Junior Jackson Chu was the top boys finisher, placing 22nd in the competition, and junior Alice Guo was the top girls finisher, placing 26th. The team competes Thursday, Oct. 17, at Warrensburg High School.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team played in the Kansas City Showcase competition last week. The team defeated Frontier STEM, 5-1, Thursday, Oct. 10, at Swope Soccer Village, and Carthage, 2-1, Saturday, Oct. 12, at Stadium Field. The team plays Wednesday, Oct. 16, at Blue Springs South.

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team played in St. Louis against Westminster Christian Academy, Nerinx Hall and Oakville. The varsity team defeated Westminster (2-1), and lost to Nerinx Hall (1-0) and Oakville (2-0). The junior varsity squad defeated Westminister (4-0), tied Nerinx Hall (1-1) and lost to Oakville (2-0). The team welcomes Pattonville to PHS Friday, Oct. 18.

Volleyball
The sixth grade red volleyball team won the MPSL volleyball tournament over Oakhill Saturday, Oct. 12.
