Varsity girls tennis competed in individual state tennis. Varsity volleyball extended its win streak to 13 straight matches. Varsity girls golf gears up for the Class 3 state championships. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Oct. 19, 2020.

Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team took its doubles team of sisters Adella and Alisha Castaner and singles player Helen Hendricks to the Missouri Class 3 individual state championships in Springfield. Helen rolled through her first match, winning 6-0, 6-1, against Springfield Catholic, and then fought off a tough Lee's Summit West opponent, 7-5, 2-6, 6-4. In the semifinals, Helen faced a tough opponent in Lindbergh, losing in a hard fought match, 6-4, 5-7, 1-6. Helen battled back in her third place match, upending Ray-Pec 7-5, 6-4. Alisha and Adella topped Jefferson City, 6-0, 6-0, and Timberland 6-0, 6-1 in its first two matches. In their semifinal match, the girls were outdone by John Burroughs, 6-3, 6-5, and lost in a heartbreaking third set tiebreaker to St. Teresa's Academy, 6-4, 3-6, 10-7, ultimately taking fourth place.

The team competition begins Friday, Oct. 23, as the girls team plays Lee's Summit West in the state semifinals. Good luck, Raiders!

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team extended its unbeaten streak to 13 matches on Saturday, Oct. 17, defeating Bishop Seabury, 25-5, 25-14, 25-15. During the week, the team defeated Lincoln College Preparatory Academy, 25-17, 25-15, 25-15, and Benton, 25-8, 25-10, 25-9. The team will try and notch another victory tonight, Oct. 19, against Central Academy of Excellence.

Girls Golf
Varsity girls golfers Campbell Nystrom and Ava Rasmus will try to become the Missouri Class 3 individual champion today and tomorrow, Oct. 19-20. Good luck, Raiders!

Football
The varsity football team upended Northeast KC High School, 54-8, on Friday, Oct. 16. The team hosts Van Horn for Homecoming, and football and cheerleading Senior Night, this Friday, Oct. 23.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team played two hard fought games last week. The team lost to a tough Blue Valley West squad, 3-1, on Tuesday, Oct. 13, and won Thursday, Oct. 15, in dramatic fashion over Harrisonville. Senior Liam Weaver's golden goal propelled the team to victory in double overtime, 2-1. The team takes on Bishop Seabury tonight, Oct. 19, at 6:30 p.m.

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team lost in shootout, 3-2, to Notre Dame de Sion last Thursday, Oct. 15. Goals were scored by Tate Angrist and Katherine Wollard. The team plays Sion again this Tuesday, Oct. 20, at Sion.

Cross Country
The varsity boys cross country team secured third place in the small school division at the Warrensburg Invitational last Thursday, Oct. 15. Will Greaves (16), Andy Greaves (17) and Max Sproull (19) made the top 20. The team next competes in the Class 3 District 8 championships on Halloween, Oct. 31, at Platte Ridge Park.

Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity swimming and diving team competes Thursday, Oct. 22, at Central Academy of Excellence.
