Weekend Raider Update: Oct. 28, 2019

The varsity girls tennis and girls golf teams competed at their respective state competitions, finishing in second and sixth place. The varsity boys soccer and football teams notched Senior Night victories. These highlights and more are in this week's Weekend Raider Update for Oct. 28, 2019.

Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team took second place at the Missouri Class 1 state championships in Springfield, Mo., on Thursday, Oct. 24. The team defeated Springfield Catholic 5-0 in the semifinals, before falling to rival John Burroughs in the championship match. Individually, junior Alisha Castaner took home fourth place in state singles, and the doubles teams of seniors Lucia Wolfe and Lynne Li, and senior Anna Stechschulte and freshman Marlena Smith, placed fifth and sixth place, respectively, in the doubles tournament Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26. Congratulations on a great season, Raiders!

Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf team took sixth place at the Missouri Class 1 Championships Monday and Tuesday, Oct. 21-22, at Fremont Hills Country Club in Nixa, Mo. Senior Allison Moody was the top Raider finisher, securing 37th place.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team notched a 7-0 victory of Lutheran on Senior Night Tuesday, Oct. 22. The team added a second victory the following day, upending Smithville, 2-0. The team opens the Missouri Class 2, District 14 Championships as the second seed and will play Monday, Nov. 4, at home against Cristo Rey. Pembroke Hill is the host of the tournament.

Football
The varsity football ended its regular season with big victory over Van Horn on Senior Night, 20-6. Additionally, head coach Sam Knopik was recognized for his over 100 victories at Pembroke Hill. The team opens Missouri Class 3 District 8 as the three seed and will play Friday, Nov. 1, at home against Benton. The team is up for KCTV5 Team of the Week. Please CLICK HERE to vote. 

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team ended its regular season on a high note, grabbing second place at the MICDS tournament Friday and Saturday, Oct. 25-26. Freshman Sydney Draper and sophomore Sarah Lattan were named to the all-tournament team. The top-seeded Raiders received a bye and will play in the second round of the Missouri Class 3, District 14 Championships Tuesday, Oct. 29, at 5:30 p.m., at Notre Dame de Sion.

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team defeated Notre Dame de Sion, 3-1, on Tuesday, Oct. 22, and completes its season today, Oct. 28, on Senior Night versus Sion. 

Cross Country
The varsity boys and girls cross country teams will compete in the Missouri Class 3, District 7 Championships Saturday, Nov. 2, at Warrensburg High School. 

Boys Swimming
The varsity boys swimming team will compete in the Interscholastic League Championships Nov. 4-5, at Central Academy of Excellence.

Middle School Sports:
The middle school 7th/8th grade football team won the 8th Grade B division championship, 24- 19, on Saturday, Oct. 26.
