Both the varsity boys soccer and football teams won their first round district games. Two cross country runners advanced to state. Field hockey held its senior night. Practices begin for upper school winter sports tomorrow, Tuesday, Nov. 1. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Oct. 31, 2022.
The varsity boys soccer team avenged its earlier losses to Lincoln Prep by defeating the Blue Tigers, 3-2, in the first round of districts Saturday, Oct. 29. Aidan Lacy led the Raiders with two goals. John Post added another goal. The team will attempt to avenge another loss in the second round, as the Raiders play the Platte County Pirates on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7 p.m., at home.
The varsity football team traveled to Knob Noster and dominated the Panthers, shutting them out 44-0. The team travels to Lee's Summit on Friday, Nov. 4, to play the St. Michael the Archangel Guardians. Game time is 7 p.m.
The varsity boys and girls cross country teams competed in the Class 3 District 4 championships Saturday, Oct. 29, at Platte Ridge Park in Platte City. Runners Henry Pickert (20th place) and David Bell (29th place) qualified for the state meet next Saturday, Nov. 5, at Gans Creek Cross Country Course in Columbia. Erin William almost joined the boys at state, finishing just out of qualification in 35th place. The top 30 runners qualified for state.
Together, the boys team finished in eighth place.
Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity boys swimming and diving team will compete in the Interscholastic League Championships today and tomorrow, Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, at Central Academy of Excellence. Tickets cost $5.
In addition, boys swimmer Marat Usov was featured on KMBC 9 News, The Kansas City Star and Fox 4, and was awarded HyVee Athlete of the Week by Spectrum Sports.
On a very rainy day, the varsity field hockey highlighted its seniors on Senior Night last Monday, Oct. 24, against Notre Dame de Sion. The Raiders tied the Storm, 1-1.
The varsity volleyball team made it to the district semifinals and played the Kearney Bulldogs on Monday, Oct. 24. It was a back and forth battle that went all five sets. Ultimately, the Raiders lost to the Bulldogs, 6-25, 25-23, 18-25, 26-24, 11-15.
