The varsity boys swimming team took second place at the Independence Invitational, taking home 26 medals and had 14 state consideration cuts. The varsity girls tennis team took third place at the Pembroke Hill tournament. These results and much more are in the Weekend Raider Update for Sept. 16, 2019.

Boys Swimming
The varsity boys swimming team took home second place at the Independence Invitational Friday and Saturday, Sept. 12-13. The team took home a whopping 26 medals and had 14 state consideration times. The 200 freestyle relay team of senior Jared Cambier, senior Will Grant, junior Spencer Perin and junior Nick Trainor set another school record with a time of 1:36.70. The team next competes Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Belton.

Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team took third place at the Pembroke Hill Tournament on Saturday, Sept. 14. Freshman Marlena Smith took first place in B flight singles. The doubles team of junior Alisha Castaner and senior Lynne Li secured second place in A flight doubles and senior Lucia Wolfe grabbed third place in A flight singles. The team returns to action Tuesday, Sept. 17, at Notre Dame de Sion.

Cross Country
The varsity cross country team traveled to St. Louis for the Forest Park Cross Country Festival on Saturday, Sept. 14. The varsity boys squad took sixth place in the White Division, with a combined 272 points. Junior Jackson Chu was the top finisher for the boys, taking 31st place. The varsity girls team took 15th place with a combined score of 308 points. Junior Alice Guo was the top girls finisher, securing 37th place. The JV boys team also competed at the festival, taking 17th place. Sophomore Darwin Torrance was the top JV runner, finishing in 98th place. The team competes Thursday, Sept. 19, at Platte Ridge Park in Platte City.

Football
The varsity football team upped its record to 3-0 on the season with a commanding 34-16 victory over Southeast High School. The team travels to Bishop Ward on Friday, Sept. 20. 

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team went 1-1 against Colorado Academy Friday and Saturday, Sept. 13-14. The team defeated the Mustangs 3-2 on Friday, before falling in overtime 4-3 on Saturday. The JV squad lost both games over the weekend set, losing both games 2-0. In addition, the team hosted its annual pink game in support of breast cancer awareness on Saturday. The team held a bake sale and sold raffle tickets last week. The team travels to Oklahoma to play Casady and Holland Hall on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 20-21. 

Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf team earned second place honors against Barstow, Liberty and Park Hill South on Monday, Sept. 9, at Kansas City Country Club. The team shot a combined 213 on the day. Freshman Ava Rasmus shot the lowest score on the team, 48. The team competes at the MoKan Invitational Monday, Sept. 16, at Blue Hills Country Club.

Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team traveled to St. Joseph to compete against Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday, Sept. 10. The team lost a tight-knit contest, 25-15, 27-29, 32-34. The team will try to notch a victory Thursday, Sept. 19, as the team hosts Notre Dame de Sion.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team went 1-1-1 and took third place in the KC Classic last week. The team defeated Kauffman Academy, 1-0 (senior Ty Toney with the goal); lost to Van Horn, 2-0; and tied St. Michael the Archangel, 0-0 (game shortened due to lightning). The team returns to action Friday and Saturday, as the squad takes on John Burroughs and Southern Boone in St. Louis.
