Weekend Raider Update: Sept. 26, 2022

The varsity boys swimming and diving team competed in the COMO Invitational. The girls tennis team defeated Barstow. The girls golf team took third place at Shirkey Golf Course. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Monday, Sept. 26, 2022.

Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity boys swimming and diving team competed in the COMO Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 24, in Columbia, Mo. Senior swimmer Marat Usov broke two school records at the meet in the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.28) and 500-yard freestyle (4:58.29). Marat placed third place in the individual medley race and 13th place in the 500-yard freestyle competition. The team placed 

Girls Tennis
The varsity girl tennis team traveled to Barstow on Thursday, Sept. 22. The team shut out the Knights, winning 8-0. The team plays its regular season finale Wednesday, Sept. 28, before hosting its annual scrimmage and Senior Night Sept. 29 at Owen Tennis Complex. Individual Districts will be held Saturday, Oct. 1.

Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf team nabbed third place at Shirkey Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 19. Senior Ava Rasmus secured second place and medaled. The varsity team hits the links today, Monday, 26, at Kansas City Country Club.

Football
The varsity football team played a rare Saturday afternoon game against University Academy on Sept. 24. The team held an early lead, but fell 40-27 at University Academy. The team will host Hogan Prep Academy on Homecoming Friday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. The Stadium Field will be dedicated and renamed Robert. L. Hicks field in honor of former teacher and head football coach Bob Hicks prior to the game.
 
Volleyball
The varsity volleyball team grabbed all three sets against Notre Dame de Sion on Thursday, Sept. 22, winning 25-18, 25-22, 25-22. The JV squad fell in three sets, and the C-Team won in three sets. The team plays at Lutheran on Wednesday, Sept. 28, before hosting Pleasant Hill on Senior Night Thursday, Sept. 29.

Boys Soccer
The varsity boys soccer team played a tough Blue Springs squad on Thursday, Sept. 22. The team battled hard, ultimately falling 3-0. The team returns to action Thursday, Sept. 29, at Barstow.

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team will host Holland Hall on Friday, Sept. 30, and both Holland Hall and Notre Dame de Sion on Saturday, Oct. 1. The team will celebrate 100 years of Field Hockey at PHS Saturday with a ribbon cutting for the new artificial turf on the Wornall Campus Field. The ribbon-cutting will occur 1:15 p.m., with the varsity contest against Sion at 1:30 p.m.

Cross Country
The cross country team competed in Lawrence Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Rim Rock Classic. Senior Erin William was the top girls finisher, finishing in 134th place. The boys team finished in 23rd place. Freshman Henry Pickert was the top boys finisher in 75th place. The team will celebrate its two seniors Thursday, Sept. 29, with the volleyball team.
