The varsity football team notched its first victory of the season. The boys varsity swimming and diving team set two school records on its way to a seventh place finish at the South Rock Invite. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Sept. 3, 2019.

Varsity Football
The varsity football team notched its first victory of the season, 31-6, over El Dorado Springs. The team plays University Academy Friday night in the BBQ game. Game time is 7 p.m.

Varsity Boys Swimming and Diving
The varsity swimming and diving team set two school records on its way to a seventh place finish at the South Rock Invite. The 200-yard medley relay team of senior Jared Cambier, senior Will Grant, freshman Ben Perrin and junior Spencer Perrin set the record with a time of 1:50.88, a state consideration cut time. The previous mark was 1:52.77, set last year. Also, 200-yard freestyle relay team of Jared, Will, Ben and junior NIc Trainor lowered the school year to 1:37.44, also a state consideration cut time. The previous record was set last year (1:37.67). Additionally, five individual swimmers made state consideration cut times at the event:

50-yard freestyle

  • Will Grant (fifth place)
  • Nic Trainor (ninth place)
  • Spencer Perrin (11th place)

100-yard freestyle

  • Will Grant (eighth place)
  • Nic Trainor (10th place)

The team will compete Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Raytown Community Center.

Varsity Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team went 1-2 in its trip to St. Louis Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 1-2, in the Gateway Classic. The team defeated Male (Ky.), 2-0, in its first game. Junior Allie Pierce and senior Ellie Hughes scored the goals. The shutout went to sophomore Cora Adkins and freshman Whitney Wilson. The team lost its second on Saturday, 1-0, to Kirkwood and then lost its final game on Sunday to St. Joseph's Academy, 2-0. The team returns to action Saturday, Sept. 7, at home against Visitation Academy. 

Varsity Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team took third place at the Great 8 tournament in Columbia, Mo. on Saturday. The team defeated Columbia Rock Bridge 6-3, lost to St. Teresa's Academy 3-6 and defeated Lee's Summit West 5-0. The team plays at home against Liberty on Monday, Sept. 3, at the Owen Tennis Complex. Start time is 4 p.m.
