Weekend Raider Update: Sept. 9, 2019

The varsity football team won the BBQ game. The varsity field hockey team defeated Visitation Academy over the weekend. Here is your Weekend Raider Update for Sept. 9, 2019.

The varsity football team overcame an early deficit and defeated University Academy in the BBQ game, 52-24, on Friday, Sept. 6. The team heads on the road Friday, Sept. 13, to face Southeast High School at the Interscholastic League Stadium.

Field Hockey
The varsity field hockey team defeated Visitation Academy, 2-1, on Saturday, Sept. 7. The JV team lost 3-1. The team plays at Notre Dame de Sion on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Girls Golf
The varsity girls golf team opened its season with two matches last week. The team competed in the Lady Jag Invitational at Lakewood Oaks Country Club, finishing in sixth place, shooting a combined 422. The team also played at Swope Memorial Golf Course against St. Teresa's Academy and Park Hill on Thursday, Sept. 5, finishing in second with a 192. Freshman Ava Rasmus shot a 41 on the day and medaled. The JV squad also played in a tournament at Minor Park on Thursday. Junior Anoushka Makkad earned a 10th place medal in the competition. The team plays Liberty Monday, Sept. 9, at Kansas City Country Club.

Boys Soccer
The boys soccer team opened the season last week with three games, including its annual trip to Springfield over the weekend. The team earlier in the week defeated Bishop Seabury, 3-1, on Thursday, Sept. 5. Goals were scored by sophomore Alex Post, junior Grant Baker and sophomore ColeJack Garrett. The team split its games in Springfield, defeating Kickapoo 2-1 (goals by Alex and freshman Aidan Lacy), and losing in a close game to Glendale 2-1 (goal by sophomore Owen Kessler). The team hosts the KC Classic Tuesday to Thursday, Sept. 10-12. 

The varsity volleyball split its first two matches of the season, defeating KC East Christian Lions, 25-18, 25-22, on Tuesday, Sept. 3, and losing in three sets to St. Pius X, 11-25, 25-20, 21-25, on Wednesday, Sept. 4. The plays at Bishop LeBlond on Tuesday, Sept. 10.

Girls Tennis
The varsity girls tennis team played three matches last week. The team upended Liberty, 7-2, on Tuesday, Sept. 3; lost 9-0 to Shawnee Mission East on Wednesday, Sept. 4; and lost 6-3 to Blue Valley North on Thursday, Sept. 5. The team hosts Lee's Summit North on Tuesday, Sept. 10. 

Boys Swimming
The varsity boys swimming and diving team returns to action Wednesday, Sept. 11, at the Raytown Schools Wellness Center

Cross Country
The varsity cross country team begins its season on Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Forest Park Cross Country Festival in St. Louis.
