Extended Day

Our Extended Day program serves students from early childhood through eighth grade, offering a safe and nurturing environment for after-school activities. Students have the opportunity to complete their homework assignments, engage in reading, play games and participate in a variety of activities. The program is designed to provide a seamless extension of the school day, ensuring that children are well cared for and engaged until 6:00 p.m. beginning on August 19, 2024 and ending on May 22, 2025 throughout the academic school year.

Extended Day care is available until 6 p.m. through the academic school year. Our program also offers children continuity of care by providing childcare on many days that school is not in session. The Extended Day staff takes safety seriously and is trained in first-aid and CPR. Given the active nature of some of the activities, occasionally, a bump or bruise results. Please be assured we will contact you with anything more than a minor injury or illness. Drop-in care is available based on our staffing.

Parents of early childhood and lower school students must sign students out of Extended Day to ensure the safety of students and for our record-keeping process. The sign-out sheet will always be with a staff member.

Note Early Childhood: August 1 is the priority deadline to submit extended day contracts. Contracts received after August 1 are not guaranteed and are subject to space availability.

Enrichment Classes and Clubs

The Auxiliary Program offers after-school enrichment classes to students in grades K-5. These classes are designed to engage students in activities with their peers that include a variety of topics. Classes are offered in two sessions during the school year and typically meet once a week for eight weeks.

Enrollment is open to all students, and is on a first-come, first-served basis. Students that do not have an Extended Day contract on the day the class meets will be charged an additional fee. Please note, space is limited in each class.

Division Information

Early Childhood

Offered in a multi-age setting and hosted in a room in the early childhood building, the goal of the early childhood Extended Day program is to offer children a program that allows them to de-stress from their day. The schedule allows a great deal of flexibility with lots of free play both inside and outside.

Teaching staff provides children with age-appropriate activities through a balanced schedule of small and large group settings with quiet and active play, including outdoor fun, arts, crafts and music. Activities are planned, but children have the option either to participate or to do other independent activities or interact with teachers.

Lower School

The Extended Day program for lower school students is offered in Deramus Field House.

Students in grades K-2 are escorted to the field house for attendance and snack before being given the opportunity to participate in organized or free play activities. Activities are held inside the field house, on the playground, and on occasion elsewhere on campus.

Third-fifth grade students have a study hall period until 4:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday, encouraging them to complete homework before leaving campus. Staff is available to assist children with homework when necessary. After study hall and on Fridays, students can choose to participate in planned or free-time activities.

Middle School

Childcare Days 2024-25

Pembroke Hill offers children continuity of care by providing childcare on many days that school is not in session. Advance registration is required.

Communication will come from Margarita Gladbach to Early Childhood parents and from Haley LeClair to Lower School parents approximately two weeks prior to each childcare start date. Drop-in care is available based on our staffing.

Extended Day offers optional childcare, from 7:45 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., for students in early years through fifth grade. While these are not normal school days, the Extended Day staff does work collaboratively with our resource teachers to provide students a variety of age-appropriate activities, including story-time, music, games, art and more.

Advance registration is required for all students. The cost is $90 per child per day. This fee will be charged to your business office account. Late pick up charges will be incurred for pick-up after 5:30 p.m.

Cancellations must be made ahead of time by the designated date to avoid charges for prearranged staffing. Reservations made after the announced deadline and drop-ins will incur an additional fee of $20 per day.
