Due to the extraordinary generosity from members of our community, the Building Together capital campaign has enabled us to transform the Ward Parkway Campus. We are excited to announce that the project is now 80 percent complete. This effort has demonstrated one of the many strengths of our community, and we invite all members of the Pembroke Hill family to join us for an event in September to see and experience these new spaces.

Opening Celebration

We hope you will come to an all-school event taking place outside on the Ward Parkway Lawn on Friday, Sept. 24, 5-7 p.m., during Reunion Weekend and Homecoming. This will be the first community celebration of the opening of the new spaces and will include food and fun family activities.

Project Updates

The renovated Hall Student Center and the new Dining Hall will be open on Aug. 19 to welcome students for the start of the 2021-22 school year. Here are updates on the specific buildings and other campus improvements:

The Lawn, embraced within the upper campus quadrangle, was opened in August 2020. It has already enhanced community activities on the Ward Parkway Campus -- and created a beautiful venue for graduation ceremonies for the Class of 2021!

Patterson Hall, named in memory of the late Jeanne Lillig-Patterson and Neal Patterson, is now framed by art screens installed at both ends of the barrel-vaulted central hall. The artist, Jan Hendrix, visited campus in early May soon after the screens were installed.

The Lawn was completed in August 2020.
The art screens on the windows in Patterson Hall provide a beautiful view of The Lawn.

Bellis Athletic Center is on schedule to host its first athletic competition this December. The Board of Trustees proposed and approved the naming of the facility in the spring of 2019 in recognition of former head of school Dr. Steven J. Bellis.

Hall Student Center’s new second floor lobby will include a work of art created by the immensely talented Sonié Joi Thompson-Ruffin, American fiber artist, author, designer, community organizer and curator, given in honor of Don ’46 and Adele Hall by the Hall Family Foundation.

The Bellis Athletic Center, bleachers and press box are viewed from the stadium field.
Hall Student Center's renovation includes a new entrance.

The Gallery, located in Centennial Hall and now connected by a skywalk to Patterson Hall and Hall Student Center, will present its first exhibit showcasing alumni artwork this fall.

With Gratitude

We are grateful to the many families, alumni and friends who have been involved in transforming the Ward Parkway Campus. Without your support, this project would not have been possible. If you are interested in supporting the Building Together Campaign, please feel free to contact me at 816-936-1229, or jrichardson@pembrokehill.org.

We hope to see you and your family on The Lawn on Sept. 24. It will be a wonderful evening of celebration for our community!
